"I've always been captivated by Tim Burton's world as depicted in his many films. For me, the Mad Hatter, the key character in Alice in Wonderland, was both captivating and hypnotic in visual terms. Rich in colour and symbolism, he was the perfect model.... Reproducing it on a human scale, all in relief in a wonderful setting was simply incredible, a way of sublimating the work and above all paying tribute to the director."
